The haze was bad.   PSI index reached the danger level for the past few days.   I made this bento hoping it pours.   The sky answered my call, slight rain on the day followed by pour on the following day.   Yipee!!!

Chameleon water color art - after the picture was painted, rubbing alcohol was applied onto the drawing.   The children saw how the colors blended with one another and the texture of the paper changed after the rubbing alcohol was applied.   After the painting was dried,  salt was added to add the scaly effect on the chameleon's skin.   The chameleon art was painted with water color for the final touch.

Outdoor photo shoot with Orange Studio

I bought outdoor photo shoot session with Orange Studio at $15 from Groupon .  I chose Orange Studio as I read good reviews of them.  I didn't know that there were many add on costs like transport cost for photographer if location is in the East or North East side, surcharge for home or rare location, admission fee.   As I don't want to pay for the add on cost, we chose the one and only location chosen by the photographer.    I was very excited and bought matching tops for the 2 boys and I.   Hubby didn't want the same top we bought, so I chose a top he has of the same navy blue.  My excitement was dampened.   The Groupon package included 1 hour outdoor photo shoot but our photo shoot was less than an hour.   Our session was arranged at 7:30 am at Botanic Garden.    It was a bad choice.    My boys were sleepy  and grumpy especially Png Png.   The photographer was not good at handling kids unlike what I read from the reviews.   The photography style was not what I wanted.   So, I chose 5 edited 5R soft copies as per the package.

After the photo shoot, we visited Jacob Ballas Children's Garden.   It happened that there were girl guides from a few secondary schools doing their special project to earn their PNA points.   The girl guides paired up to conduct tours for visitors to the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden.   One of the girl guides was very outspoken and talked a lot to me.  I enjoyed listening to their introduction about the plants in the garden while my boys enjoyed the mist from the set up in the picture below.   Visitors turn the lever at the side of a box, there will be mist spraying down from the 'tree'.   This made my boys feel cool and merry.   They were irritated by the heat on that hot sunny morning.

Swimming instructor Doris

Swimming instructor Doris taught Chen Chen swimming since Chen Chen started to learn swimming.   Her daughter took over her to teach Chen Chen Life Saving after Chen Chen completed Swimsafer course.   Png Png also learn swimming from instructor Doris.   Png Png progressed very fast under her teaching.    Unfortunately, Doris stopped teaching to train herself for mountain climbing.   Picture of Png Png with instructor Doris

Prawning

Hubby brought Png Png to the fishing pond to fish prawn twice but Chen Chen didn't join them as Chen Chen was too engrossed playing with computer game.  Tonight, he requested hubby to go prawning.   

Hubby rented one hook for the 2 boys to share as the hook rental charge is not cheap - $18 for an hour.   The 2 boys took turn to fish prawn.

I didn't expect the 2 boys to have the patience to fish.   So, the true impatient one is me :-P

Invented toy

Since young, Chen Chen likes to invent his own toy.   Well, this is partly attributed to him having a mom who doesn't abide to his request to buy toy easily.   I love it when he does that.   Today, he invented a game that is similar to pinball game.  This game is played by 2 players.    One player roll a marble through any of the path below.  The other player has to catch the marble with a small round metal cap.

My 2 boys and hubby had great fun playing with this game.

Mid autumn festival party

Carpe Diem organised a party to celebrate mid autumn festival.   Parents were invited to join in the party.   There were a few activities for the kids to participate.   Participant needed to buy a card to participate in the activity.   Upon completion of all the activities (teacher in charge will stamp on the card after completion of an activity), the participant will get a present.

The first activity that Png Png took part was making snow skin moon cake.   Not only that he liked making the moon cake, he enjoyed eating the moon cake we made as well.   Well, actually the skin was mixed by the cook of the childcare center and the filling was ready bought.

There were many other activities like shooting the sun (burst balloons with pin) , throwing bean bag, hopping bunny.   However, we didn't capture picture for these activities.

The last activity that I made with Png Png was making lantern.   I totally forgot how to do that.   In the end, I made a mouse lantern.   A teacher complimented that I am creative.   Ahem!

Last but not least, the kids carried lantern and walked around the center.
