He is a tween!

My elder prince Chen Chen turns a tweenager today!   It was like yesterday when I had him in my arms.   Back then, we showered him with all our attention since he was the first child in our household. My parents, hubby, myself, my brother and sister in law, 6 adults gave him all the attention.   I spent a lot of time playing with him, reading to him,  teaching him.....  

He lost the total attention he used to get since his younger brother arrived.   No doubt, he exhibits the traits of a big brother and loves his brother very much.   Many a time, he extends his big wings and shelters his brother, especially when he brought his brother to play in the playground or theme park.   

My happy, lovely, easy going, sociable boy.   

We celebrated his birthday in his favorite Sakura buffet restaurant.   His forever love - ice cream

Forgetful me forgot to bake him cake.   The restaurant offered cake for his birthday but for consumption on the spot, not for taking away.   We decided to forgo it since we won't be able to stomach the cake.  My easy going lovely boy made do with a cup cake from the buffet counter.

Chen Chen received birthday party invitation from his classmate, Jonathan again this year.

Only 5 parents attended the party this year.    The other parents left their children at the party and fetched their children after the party ended.   The kids were playing in the pool most of the time.   All of them gathered in the function room only during cake cutting time.

Happy 7th birthday to my prince junior

This was the last year Png Png celebrated his birthday in Carpe Diem.   Next year, he will be in primary one where no birthday celebration is allowed in school.

As usual, I baked cup cake for his birthday celebration in Carpe Diem.   I was in cloud 9 when I took the cup cakes out from the oven.   This was the first time that I bake cup cake with even top to the brim of the cup cake holder.   YAHOO!!!!

Being the birthday boy, Png Png was the center of attraction.   He was very shy to be the limelight.   He put his fingers in his mouth and refused to change to his favourite Minions pants that my sister in law bought for him as birthday present.   

Chen Chen was very helpful to help me set up the cup cakes and distribute cup cakes and agar agar to the children before he rushed off to his tuition lesson.

It was fun seeing Png Png chatting with his classmates and chatting with his classmates myself.

I gave out two story books as birthday goodie.   Png Png had fun distributing the goodie to his classmates.

In the evening, we celebrated Png Png's birthday in Sakura International buffet restaurant in SAFRA Tampines.

Everyone of us had Alaska crab for the first time and we loved it.

Hubby's birthday

I woke up early today to bake some cup cakes for hubby.  I decorated a few but not all cup cakes that I baked.   

We always celebrate hubby's birthday at home but this year, we celebrated his birthday at Changi Airport T3 Earle Swensen's.

I was surprised that Chen Chen enjoyed the salad at the buffet counter too.

What surprised me more was Chen Chen had a good appetite tonight.   He had fish and chips, salad and his monthly complementary scoop of ice cream.

I took out the cup cakes that I baked for hubby but the waitress told us that no outside food is allowed.    I told the waitress that the cup cakes are for hubby's birthday celebration.   

 The waitress was very nice to give hubby a slice of birthday cake on the house.

He is 9

My big boy, Chen Chen is 9 today!  We had a simple birthday celebration for him.   We brought him to Earle Swensen's at Changi Airport terminal 3.  He got a complimentary Coit Tower Junior from Swensen with kids' meal that we ordered for Png Png as birthday treat for Chen Chen  is a member with Swensen's kids club.   

We had a very unhappy experience on that day.   I was extremely displeased with the attitude of the Filipino waiter who attended to us.   He was very snobbish.   Initially, I thought it was because we didn't order much food since we had buffet for lunch.   I observed that he treated some other customers in the like manner.   I showed him Chen Chen's birth certificate as a proof that today is Chen Chen's birthday.   The waiter looked at the wrong column which indicated my birthday and said in a very rude manner to me that Chen Chen's birthday wasn't today.   My hubby thought I brought Png Png's birth certificate instead.   I answered very firmly that I am the mother, I knew whose birth certificate I brought with me and pointed to the column that indicated Chen Chen's birth date.   That waiter knew he was wrong and was shy of the way he talked to me.   However, he continued with his snobbish manner there after.

This was the first time Png Png had a meal in Swensen.    He was very fascinated.

A birthday invitation

Chen Chen was very delighted when he came home with a birthday invitation from his classmate Jonathan.   It was the first invitation he received from his classmate.  

We were there just in time for lunch as Chen Chen had keyboard lesson at 10:30am and I had to do grocery shopping at Giant supermarket.   By the time we got there, the pool and table soccer games were over.   Chen Chen was very upset over that.

After cake cutting, the kids had a dip in the pool.    Chen Chen did not bring swimming costume.  We told him to bring his costume but he didn't want to.  He regretted when he saw all his friends in the pool.   I called hubby to bring Chen Chen's swimming costume here so that he could join in the fun.

The energetic boys ran and played around the pool after the swim.   It was a great opportunity to attend this party as I made friend with Chen Chen's classmate Marcus's mom Catherine.....networking.
